Our qualification has been designed to enable content to be delivered more effectively to students across the ability range, in particular at Foundation:

• We’ve introduced a range of accessibility principles to help students get into the maths on the papers. We’ve reviewed the working and language we use, the command words we use and the layout on the page of charts, graphs and diagrams.
• Greater specificity of content makes it easy to deliver the right level to your students - content is clearly arranged across 3 columns to show the content for initial learning, additional content for Foundation students and additional content for Higher students.
• With the Foundation tier content broken down over two columns, you can determine how much time to spend on the initial learning content and when to then move on and introduce the additional Foundation content to students.
• There are more marks available for showing mathematical method. With 100 marks available in each of our three exam papers students are rewarded for each correct step they show, whether their answer is right or not.
• Research and feedback told us that students were more confident with a calculator than without. Paper 1 in our qualification is hence a calculator paper, so in the build up to exams students have the reassurance they’ll have their calculator in the first paper. This helps get things off to a good start to help improve confidence and performance in later papers. Our non-calculator paper is the second paper candidates sit.
• Extensive formative assessment support, including:
• Almost 100 of our popular ‘check ins’ tests - formative assessment opportunities for each of our three levels of subject content. These include student-friendly RAG marking grids for students to identify their progress against mathematical skills.
• Practice and Past Papers, with mark schemes and Analysis Grids to help you find out more about your students’ performance
