Inline Deployments

With the new enhancements to inline bypass segment abstraction, user's can now seamlessly setup inline appliances in Load Balance or Tool Chain mode. FabricFlow configuration changes will be automatically applied based on triggers, without user intervention or complex and error prone manual configurations. Furthermore user's can easily setup Secondary appliance configurations with automated flexible rules on switch over conditions between Primary and Secondary appliances. Niagara Networks has been amongst the leading preferred choice for bypass switches and inline deployments. With Release10.12 more complex inline user cases are addressed, and there are more options, more flexibility, and a better user experience.

Bypass segment synchronization

Bypass Segment Synchronization enables users to quickly and efficiently synchronize the behavior and status between multiple Bypass segments, whether they are in a single Niagara Networks device or a deployment spanning multiple devices. Each Bypass segment retains its own independent trigger based policy action, but the selected Bypass segments are orchestrated to act in unison. Because traditional network management response time is too slow, and may result in service loss, Bypass segment synchronization is achieved via direct data-plane link between the Niagara Network devices. For example, when handling inline deployment on asymmetric routing where one bypass segment is deployed on the upstream link and the other bypass segment is deployed on the downstream link. Backup Ports

Backup ports is another new capability designed to make the work of the Network Visibility designer easier on the one hand, and your Network and Security visibility layer more robust and redundant on the other hand. With Backup Ports you can seamlessly define appliance ports that are automatically configured to "kick-in" once the "primary" appliance ports fail, with user intervention or complex manual FabricFlow configurations. Users have the added flexibility to designate the Backup ports as part of a common pool, or as a strict binding between two appliances, or to switch over to the Backup Ports during maintenance down time.

Regular expression-based data masking and filtering

In this new Packetron application (requires separate software license and the Packetron module for hardware accelerated packet processing) users can filter traffic on any user defined pattern. Users can define patterns using a regular expression (RegEx). One of the exciting capabilities is the ability to filter the full traffic flow session, when there was a pattern-match hit on any one of the packets in the stream. Moreover, applications running on the Packetron, automatically and seamlessly benefit from aggregation, replication, filter, load balance, inline bypass and other traffic adaptation capabilities of a fully featured NPB. By connecting the Packetron module to the non-blocking switching core, traffic from any port and to any port can be easily accomplished.
