Celebrating Special Olympics Athletes with Bozzuto's Dream Ride Experience

Aug 22, 2018

Earlier this month, IGA Licensed Distribution Center (LDC) Bozzuto’s, Inc. hosted the 18th annual Dream Ride Experience in support of Special Olympics, raising over $2 million over the course of the 3-day event.

What started in 2000 as the optimistic vision of Bozzuto’s CEO Michael Bozzuto, has grown into the largest philanthropic endeavor in Bozutto’s long history of giving back to the people and communities they serve. To date, The Dream Ride Experience and other annual events held by Bozzuto’s, a Cheshire, Connecticut-based, family owned wholesale food distribution company serving over 1,500 supermarket retailers in 10 states, have raised over $7.7 million in support of Special Olympics and the Hometown Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to community support in conjunction with Bozzuto’s and its retailers.

This year’s Dream Ride Experience, held August 3– August 5 at The Farmington Polo Club, in Farmington, Connecticut, brought in hundreds of athletes and thousands of attendees—including IGA retailers from all over the northeast and as far away as Australia.

The Dream Ride Experience featured a police-escorted, 40-mile motorcycle cruise through the central Connecticut countryside; a motorcycle show with unique and one-off bikes; an exotic and classic car cruise and show; appearances from WWE superstars; and countless vendors, carnival rides and live bands. Also, on the agenda for the weekend were a Special Olympics Unified Sports® basketball tournament, a Fireman's Chili Cook-Off, Police K-9 Challenge, and a pet adoption event.

Stay tuned for more information on next year’s Dream Ride Experience, scheduled August 23-25, 2019.
